The Serengeti-Mara ecosystem is the home of almost all of the known African big game species. In no other game reserve you can experience the “Big Five” so close and in action. When in the summer during the “Great Migration” the huge wildebeest and zebra herds from the Serengeti migrate to the Masai Mara, ypu might not believe your eyes, because the “Great Gnu Walk” is one of the biggest hikes in the animal kingdom. Hundreds of thousands of wildebeests and zebras cycle through the Serengeti and reach the Masai Mara in July. There, the herds remain until the end of October. What otherwise can only be seen in spectacular nature films, takes place here in the Masai Mara. This safari is ideal for photographers and nature lovers. Discover the secrets of Kenya with our experienced team on this great safari.

1st day: Good Morning, Kenya!

Good morning Kenya! For your Safari you leave Nairobi behind and start your trip to Masai Mara. While driving you can already enjoy insight into African life: past farms and markets through towns and villages. We impress you deeply the spectacular landscape of the East African rift valley. After arriving at the Masai Mara, your guide opens up the roof of your safari car and off you go! The Masai Mara, together with the Serengeti, is a vast wildlife sanctuary where herds of zebra, wildebeest, topis and Thomson gazelles roam around. Wide savannas, decorated with umbrella acacias, as far as the eye can see. Lions, cheetahs and leopards live here all year round. And at the legendary Mara River, huge Nile crocodiles sunbathe while hippos splash around. Overnight at Mara Legends Camp.

2nd – 5th day: Safari in the Masai Mara

Woken up in the middle of the Masai Mara, four days of wildlife watching are on program. Let the seemingly not ending vastness impact you. Enjoy Kenya’s park with the highest animal abundance,  unique in its biodiversity. A safari day ends best at the campfire! Overnight at Mara Legends Camp.

6th day: Lake Baringo

Through the Rift Valley to Baringo Lake: After the morning game drive you leave the northern part of the Masai Mara. Our ride goes deep into the Rift Valley. The destination is Baringo Lake. The lake is home to a remarkable variety of birds. In the lake are numerous crocodiles and hippos. A special highlight is the African fish eagle. Overnight at Roberts Camp.

7th day: Bird paradise Lake Baringo

In the early morning you will do a boat safari on lake Baringo. With some luck, you will be able to watch the hunting African Fish Eagle. There are also numerous herons, kingfishers, flamingos, hippos and crocodiles. Watching the animals from the boat is a very special experience! Overnight at Roberts Camp.

8th day: Thomson Falls and Kenya’s highest town

From Lake Baringo to the Thompson Falls: In the early morning you will drive once again to the lake to photograph the African Fish Eagle. After breakfast you will start your drive to the central highlands. Nyahurur is the highest city in Kenya. Here we stop at the Thompson Falls. In the afternoon you will reach the well-known Rhino Watch Safari Lodge. Overnight at Rhino Watch Safari Lodge.

9th day: Lunch at a tree house and exciting giraffe walk

After breakfast your guide will take you to the foot of Mt. Kenya. The destination is a tree house restaurant where delicious Mt. Kenya trout are served, that are breeded at the dedicated trout farm. In the tree house you can often find the beautiful and curious Colobus monkeys. After lunch, you have enough time to photograph the animals. In the afternoon, an exciting hike awaits you! Experience the walk in the living environment of zebras, antelopes, gazelles and giraffes with all your senses, you are walking through a patch of Africa! Following your guide you will walk across grassy areas, trodden wild paths and through bush land. Your Kenyan companion will be happy to answer all your questions or tell the story of the country club and its colonial environment. Giraffes slowly cross the wide plains, graceful and elegant. Her slim, tall figure appears huge when she looks curiously down at you. After all, she is the tallest land-living animal in the world. Back at the lodge in the afternoon, you will be able to observe many birds from a raised platform that like to come to the nearby pond. Overnight at Rhino Watch Safari Lodge.

10th day: High up in the Aberdare National Park

Today’s safari takes you to the mountain side forest of the Aberdare highlands, one of the last intact rainforest refuges in Africa with an impressive bamboo forest. It is not easy to find, but it is even more impressive if you spot an African giant forest hog in the thicket. If you are lucky you will also see a leopard here! Overnight at Rhino Watch Safari Lodge.

11th day: Safari at Ol-Pejeta Reserve

Today a day trip to the Ol-Pejeta Reserve is on program, which was – until a short while ago – the home of the last Northern white rhinoceros bull SUDAN. In addition to the rhinoceros conservation project, there is also a project on chimpanzees here. If you’re lucky, you’ll see other members of the Big Five today. A great safari day to complete your trip! Overnight at Rhino Watch Safari Lodge. Overnight at Rhino Watch Safari Lodge.

12th day: Safari at Solio Game Reserve

The privately managed conservation reserve has been dedicated to protecting white and black rhinos for decades. In addition there are large lion packs and buffalo herds. Due to the different biotopes in the park, it has a great diversity of species. Solio is one of the pearls among the protected areas in Kenya. On a full day safari you can observe these wonderful animals up close. The safari jeep stops in the immediate vicinity of grazing rhinos, zebras and water buffalos. Overnight at Rhino Watch Safari Lodge.

13th day: Trip to Samburu Valley

Today you are leaving the Rhino Watch Lodge. You are continuing your trip, orbit Mt. Kenya and reach your destination: the Samburu Valley. Here, life happens along the brown river. In the hot bush savannah, there is hardly any water, so that the animals migrate to the river to drink. Often you can see large herds of elephants crossing the river. Overnight at Elephant Bedroom Camp.

14th day: Samburu National Park

The Samburu Game Reserve is located in the arid savanna area of eastern Kenya, bordering the nearly year round water leading Ewaso Nyiro River. Especially in the dry season, Elephants and Zebras quench their thirst here, cross it and bathe in it. In addition to the pachyderms, there are good opportunities to sight leopards, cheetahs and lions. The big cats are less shy here than in other parks. The game park is also known for the rare and special Grevy’s zebras and gerenuks. Overnight at Elephant Bedroom Camp.

15th day: Departure

An exciting trip comes to an end. After a morning game drive you return to Nairobi. Kwaheri Kenya! Goodbye, Kenya!
